BACKGROUND
National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand (NCSWT) is a non - profit organization, founded in 1960 to serve as a coordinating center on social welfare and social development among government and private organizations.
On August 10th, 1961 the NCSWT was graciously granted Royal Patronage by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit had graciously accepted the Honorary Presidency. NCSWT considers the 10th of August every year as an auspicious day to pay a tribute to Their Majesties' philanthropy and benevolence.
His Majesty the King donated funds for the construction of "Mahidol Building" dedicated to his father, Prince Mahidol of Songkhla. Their Majesties laid the foundation stone on July 31st, 1963 and the opening ceremony was performed on March 5th, 1965.
The NCSWT comprises of member organizations which engage in social welfare services, social development, and solving social problems. As of , NCSWT has member organizations.
As the national coordinating body for non-governmental social welfare organizations in the country, NCSWT is affiliated to the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW), Rehabilitation International (RI), etc.
